Anne Byrne Memorial Award

The Anne Byrne Memorial Award is presented to members that show outstanding support to the organisationThe Anne Byrne Memorial Award is presented annually to a Fighting Blindness member that demonstrates outstanding commitment and service to the organisation.

Each year, Fighting Blindness will award our outstanding members at the Member's Social in Dublin.

Named after founding member and counsellor Anne Byrne. The award represents her commitment to helping people affected by blindness and her constant support of the Fighting Blindness membership.

The first recipient of the award, Dolores Leavey, was honoured for volunteering her time and counselling expertise for over 12 years at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear and Mater Hospital eye clinics.

Fighting Blindness would like to thank all of our members over the year for helping to support and steer the charity. As a patient-led organisation, it is important to have a strong and vocal member base.
