Training Walks 2010

March | April | May | June | July | August | September | October

Walks start at 9:30am sharp and usually last until around 3:30pm. Please arrive 15 minutes early to get your gear on. If you have a medical condition, please notify the lead guide on the day of the walk. Routes may change depending on weather and the group dynamics.

What to bring:

  • Waterproof and warm clothing
  • Waterproof, comfortable walking boots
  • Lunch
  • Drinking water and a flask with a hot drink
  • €10 for the guide
  • €4 parking fee in exact change

 
 


Training Walk 1: Sunday,  March 7

Glendalough

  • Meeting Point: Glendalough Upper Car Park
  • Route: Clendalough Upper Car Park, Camaderry East Top, Camaderry Summit, Footbridge, Miners Track, Glendalough Car Upper Car Park
  • Distance: 11K
  • Directions: From Dublin M50 South continue on the N11 and take turn for Roundwood/Glendalough. Continue past Glendalough Hotel to Upper Car Park

Training Walk 2: Sunday, April 11

Glendalough

  • Meeting Point: Glendalough Upper Car Park
  • Route: Glendalough Upper Car Park, Spinc, Mullachor, Derrybawn Ridge, Glendalough Upper Car Park
  • Distance: +13K
  • Directions:From Dublin M50 South continue on the N11 and take turn for Roundwood/Glendalough. Continue past Glendalough Hotel to Upper Car Park

Training Walk 3: Sunday, May 9

Crone Wood

  • Meeting Point: Crone Wood Car Park
  • Route: Crone Wood Car Park, Maulin, Tonduff South, Warhill, Djouce, Crone Wood Car Park
  • Distance: 15K
  • Directions: From Dublin M50 South continue on N11 and take the turn off for Enniskerry. Keep left of the monument (up hill) and continue on past the gates of Powerscourt Waterfall. Car park is approximately 2k on left.

Training Walk 4: Sunday, June 6

Glen of Immal

  • Meeting Point: Byrne's Pub (formerly Fenton's), Glen of Immal
  • Route: Byrne's Pub, Banana Track, Camarahill, Lugnaquillia, Slievemann, Ballineddan Mountain, Fenton's Pub
  • Distance: 14K
  • Directions: from Dublin take the N81 past Tallaght and Blessington (approximately 15K). Turn left at signs for Dwyer Cottage, Glen of Immal. Continue straight on to Byrne's Pub approximately 3K on the right.

  • Distance: 15-18K
  • Directions: From Dublin M50 South continue on the N11 and take turn for Roundwood/Glendalough. Continue past Glendalough Hotel to Upper Car Park

  • Route: Glendalough Upper Car Park, Camaderry Ridge, Camaderry Top, Footbridge, Lugduff, Spinc, Glendalough Upper Car Park
  • Distance: 13-15K
  • Directions: From Dublin M50 South continue on the N11 and take turn for Roundwood/Glendalough. Continue past Glendalough Hotel to Upper Car Park

Glen of Immal

  • Meeting Point: Byrne's Pub (formerly Fenton's), Glen of Immal
  • Route: Variation of walk 4:
  • Distance: 14K
  • Directions: from Dublin take the N81 past Tallaght and Blessington (approximately 15K). Turn left at signs for Dwyer Cottage, Glen of Immal. Continue straight on to Byrne's Pub approximately 3K on the right.
