This year, our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held in-person and we hope that you are able to attend. The meeting will provide the opportunity to meet with old friends and forge new relationships.

Venue Information

Fighting Blindness has carefully selected an accessible venue. The meeting will be at the Ashling Hotel, Dublin at 4pm on Friday, 30 September. This recently refurbished Dublin classic is adjacent to our national rail network, which befits the needs of our community. The formal meeting is expected to last around one hour, and light refreshments will be served.

The Ashling Hotel is located close to Heuston Station and on the red LUAS line, which is linked to Connolly Station and Busaras. If taking the LUAS, we recommend getting off at the Museum Stop, as it is just a couple of minutes’ walk from, and on the same side of the road as the hotel.

If you wish to stay at the hotel, please contact the hotel directly on 01 677 2324 to avail of a discounted rate available to Fighting Blindness members. We have included all the documentation in this letter to fulfill our obligations for this meeting and also a number of resolutions that you will be asked to cast your vote on.

Proxy voting

Proxy voting is available, for members who wish to appoint the Chairman or another member to attend, speak and vote on their behalf. Proxy Forms must be submitted to the Fighting Blindness office by post, hand delivery or email to agm@fightingblindness.ie  no later than 4pm on Wednesday 28th September.

Members who wish to support the Board’s recommended resolutions and who are unable to attend should complete a proxy voting form appointing the Chairman to vote on their behalf.

Please note that a complete list of candidates for election as Director to the Board will be circulated by email to all members once the nomination deadline has passed. This list will be sent by 5pm on Wednesday 28th September and will include a brief description of each candidate. Please use this information to help inform your voting choice and if using proxy voting.

Please note only fully paid-up members of Fighting Blindness can speak and vote at the meeting.
