Hold a Jeans for Genes Day to raise funds to find a cure & treatments for people living with genetic sight loss.
Leave your suits or uniforms at home, embrace the denim and wear jeans into work or school on Jeans for Genes Day 2018 – Friday 21 September. Invite your colleagues or classmates to do the same, in return for a small donation to Fighting Blindness. Order your Jeans for Genes Kit by emailing email@example.com – we have coin boxes, stickers, balloons & posters available to add a little sparkle to your event. How you’re Helping:
We’ll put your funds toward the TARGET 5000 – Gateway to Vision project. Its been difficult to find cures and treatments for sight loss as there is no national register. With your help TARGET 5000 will carry out essential genetic testing on every person in Ireland affected by a genetic retinal condition. It’s estimated that there’s over 5000 people to be tested.
The national register is vital because:
- It identifies the exact retinal degeneration that each person has. This will help target potential treatments and cures.
- Enables people to take part in clinical trials. This speeds up the progress of possible proven treatments, and ensure availability.
- Identifies new research opportunities, leading to much faster treatments and cures.
