Rare Disease Day

Rare Disease Day takes place on the last day of February every year. The day is marked by patient organisations and people living with rare diseases all over the world. The aim of the day is to raise awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on people and families affected by them.

Fighting Blindness joins with other organisations on this day every year to raise awareness about issues facing the rare disease community in Ireland. In 2019 we were a member of the organising committee for the Rare Diseases Day conference in Dublin themed ‘Bridging health and social care’. For a full report on the day, please visit the Rare Diseases Ireland website.

international Rare Disease Day is coordinated by EURORDIS – Rare Diseases Europe. For more information visit www.rarediseaseday.org.
