In September 2020 we piloted a new peer support group for young people in the 18-30 age range. Directions ran for a period of 12 consecutive weeks and we hoped that it would create a core group of participants who would bring the group forward with a commitment to meeting on a monthly basis in 2021.
Young adults who are living with sight loss may face particular challenges and difficulties. Priorities relating to study, embarking on further education, job-seeking, securing independence and relationship difficulties can often be difficult to navigate and manage.
During these times many people find it useful to talk through their feelings and experiences with someone outside their usual circle of family and friends. Often by meeting with others who have faced similar difficulties, vital support can be found.
This group will begin meeting again on Thursday 28 January (6.30pm – 8.00pm) and on the last Thursday of every month moving forward. There are places available for new members and we’d be very happy to answer any questions potential participants may have.
Directions will meet on Thursdays from 6.30pm to 8pm
Zoom (training on Zoom can be provided by Fighting Blindness in advance of joining)
If you think this may be of interest to you or someone you know, please contact us on 01 674 6496 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that places on this group will be limited to 12 participants.
We’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have about the group and it will also give us the chance to get a sense of your support needs and what kind of service you feel would be helpful.
Please note that this is not formal Group Therapy.
