The Department of Social Protection has commissioned a major research project into the cost of disability. They want to find out about the extra costs and expenses that people with disabilities may have because of their disability.
Indecon Research Economists are carrying out the research on behalf of the Department and they have sent a survey to recipients of the Blind Pension and the Disability Allowance in the post.
The Department also wants to hear from people living with a disability who are not in receipt of these payments.
This is an important opportunity for anyone who is living with a vision impairment to let the Government know about the extra costs you may face.
If you would like to receive a hard copy in the post or if you would like assistance with completing the survey over the phone you can contact NCBI by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with your contact number and someone will be in touch with you.
The Department of Social Protection has created a helpline for the survey and they are also available to assist you to complete the survey. You can call them on 01 704 30 29 or email the survey team in the Department at CODSurvey@welfare.ie.
The survey will close Monday 16 November.
We urge you all to take part and share it with relevant family and friends. The data will not only help the Government understand more about life with a vision impairment, but it will also be invaluable to Fighting Blindness when we are campaigning for access to medicines and services on your behalf.
