Tony’s just over half way to his fundraising goal. Please support his mission by donating online on his EveryDayHero page.
“I’m aiming to run sub 3 hours 15 minutes and training is going well. I’ve set an ambitious fundraising target… €50,000 would support one of our key research fellow positions in either the Mater or Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospitals for a whole year.” Tony explains.
Tony first became involved in Fighting Blindness 20 years ago when he was diagnosed with the degenerative eye condition, retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and has been involved ever since.
Recent studies have shown that over 224,000 children and adults in Ireland are affected by severe vision loss. However, many conditions causing blindness are preventable or treatable over a range of areas such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathies.
Fighting Blindness is 90% funded by the public through donations and fundraising and depends on these donations so it can continue funding research into treatments and cures for blindness.
