IPPOSI Patient Education Programme 2019 Open for Applications

The IPPOSI Patient Education Programme delivers training for patients, carers and advocates living in the Republic of Ireland on health research and innovation. This includes education modules on clinical trials, medicines regulatory affairs and health technology assessment.

The programme is designed to enable and empower more patients and patient advocates to work effectively with Irish and EU-level health research and technology partners, agencies and authorities.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Sunday, November 18, 2018. Further details on the Programme and details on how to apply are available here.

The 2019 programme will last for the period of mid-January 2019 until mid-November 2019. Potential candidates may be interested in these short videos, which capture student feedback on last year’s pilot programme and their reasons for taking part.

Some of the benefits of participating in the education programme are outlined by IPPOSI below;

  • You gain an understanding of the health innovation system and the patient’s (potential) place in it.
  • You develop the confidence and knowledge to speak more effectively on behalf of yourself and those you represent, because you have learned some of the language of the scientific, medical and healthcare communities.
  • You are empowered to seek more opportunities to get involved
  • You will develop your networks, as well as meeting some like-minded people as yourself

IPPOSI (Irish Platform for Patient Organisations, Science and Industry) is a group that Fighting Blindness has been a member of for many years. Through this group we work closely with other IPPOSI members to ensure patients are at the heart of health policy and innovation.
