Paris2Nice is a unique and exceptional non-competitive charity cycle that raises much needed funds for charities throughout Ireland.
For the past 6 months Suzie King and Stephen Surdival have been preparing for the 6 day cycling challenge. As if this was not difficult enough, Suzie is also visually impaired and will be sharing a tandem cycle with Stephen.
Covering approximately 700 kilometres they will be starting in Paris on the 10th and completing their epic adventure in Nice on the 16th of September.
Suzie had not ridden a bike in 35 years and that including being visually impaired makes this a challenge to remember. Both Suzie and Stephen have been training for the past 6 months.
Stephen’s own sporting background is in competitive cycling and triathlons. Having met many people through his wider circle of friends who have completed Paris2Nice in the past, he decided a few years ago this was something he would like to do. What really interested him though was the possibility of using his own cycling abilities and experience to offer someone the opportunity to do it with him who wouldn’t ordinarily even consider such a challenge.
Suzie and Stephen have both thoroughly enjoyed the past 6 months of training and can honestly say that there were no lows only highs. A new friendship has been formed and Stephen has praised Suzie for being an inspirational person that he feels privileged to have spent the last number of months with on the bike.
There are fundraising events planned for October, watch this space… more details to come…..
Stephen and Suzie’s donate page is not live as of yet however if you would like to donate please go to our donate page https://www.fightingblindness.ie/donate/ and include Paris to Nice in the reference box.
Wishing Suzie and Stephen all the best on their forthcoming adventure!
