Thank you to everyone who attended the Fighting Blindness Annual General Meeting at the Radisson Blu Goldenlane. We were delighted to catch up with old friends and welcome new members as we shared our achievements and impact during 2016 and looked ahead to an exciting 2017. As a patient-led organisation our members are central to the work that we do and we take our lead from our members when planning our work, the AGM is a vital part of that.
The Anne Byrne Memorial Award is presented annually to a Fighting Blindness member who has demonstrated outstanding dedication and service to the organisation throughout the year. The award is named after one of the founding members of Fighting Blindness and counsellor Anne Byrne and represents her commitment to helping people affected by sight loss and her constant support of the Fighting Blindness membership. This year’s award was presented to Helen Murphy who has done so much to raise the profile of Insight Counselling and Fighting Blindness by sharing her personal story of sight loss with the press, for fundraising and for our recent impact video. Many thanks to Helen for all her efforts on our behalf.
And a very special thank you to our valued members and to everyone who attended the AGM and sent their best wishes for the event. The Annual Report 2016 was distributed at the AGM and is available to download here.
